Travelling from Kurukshetra to a maxillofacial surgeon in Karnal

Our only address is in Karnal, on Kunjpura Road, roughly 40 km down the NH-44 corridor from Kurukshetra. Far enough to be an outing rather than an errand, so this page is about making one trip count. The reasons that justify it are narrow: facial injuries and jaw fractures, a jaw joint that hurts or locks, swellings in the bone, and second opinions on a referred case.

โœ“ Message the details in advance so one journey covers everything ยท Mon-Sat 10 AM-2 PM & 5 PM-8 PM

Making one journey do the work of three

Most wasted trips happen because nobody knew in advance what the case needed. A conversation beforehand fixes that; the rest is sequencing.

  1. Tell us the case a day or two ahead

Describe the symptom, when it started, and what has already been advised. Photograph any films, discharge papers or referral letter and send them across. From that we can usually say whether imaging is needed, so the day is built around it, not interrupted by it.

  2. Take a slot at the opening of a session

Sessions run Mon-Sat 10 AM-2 PM & 5 PM-8 PM. The first appointment of either one leaves the rest of the block free, which is what lets everything fit into one day.

  3. Examination, then imaging if needed

Small X-rays are taken here. For a CBCT or 3D study you are pointed to an imaging centre close by and return with the images, which Dr. Nainik Mehta plans from in front of you.

  4. A plan, with the number of visits stated

Before driving back you should know what is wrong, the options, and how many further trips are needed. Stitch removal may need you in person; progress reviews often do not, so ask which can go by photo.

What Kurukshetra patients come for

Two resident MDS specialists, an oral and maxillofacial surgeon and a prosthodontist, working as equal partners in one clinic. That covers the whole range, from a family check-up to jaw surgery, and from a single crown to rebuilding a worn-down mouth.

Everyday dentistry for the family

Check-ups, cleaning, fillings and children's dentistry, for anyone who would rather bring the whole family to one place. A number of Kurukshetra families do exactly that, combining a visit with other business in Karnal. See routine care or child dentistry.

Facial injuries and jaw fractures

After an accident or a bad fall, the visible cut is often not the problem. Teeth that no longer meet correctly, an uneven face or numbness in the lip or chin all suggest bone needing to be set. Read the facial trauma guide; if the injury happened today, go to the emergency page.

Jaw joint pain, clicking and locking

A jaw that clicks painfully, will not open fully or aches every morning is a joint problem, frequently mistreated as toothache. Most such cases improve without an operation, using guards, exercises and habit changes. That is precisely why the visit is worth making: usually the answer is that surgery is not needed.

Crowns, dentures and rebuilding worn teeth

Dr. Kusha Dhawan Mehta is an MDS prosthodontist, the specialty concerned with rebuilding broken-down, worn or missing teeth so the result looks like your own. Crowns and bridges, complete and partial dentures, smile design and full-mouth rehabilitation. See full mouth rehabilitation or smile design.

Second opinions on a referred case

Handed a referral for jaw surgery, a cyst in the bone or a biopsy? An independent look before you commit is reasonable, and nobody here is offended by it. Bring the films and the note.

Finding us once you reach Karnal

Coming south on NH-44, take the ITI Chowk exit and join Kunjpura Road. The clinic is on the main road itself, not inside a colony lane. Your landmark is Ashoka Nursery: we are the unit directly across from it, #1 Raja Ram Market.

Not driving yourself? Any driver in Karnal understands "Kunjpura Road, opposite Ashoka Nursery".

Leaving the vehicle: scooters stand right in front; a car goes on the empty road along the left side. The nursery across the way is not available for parking.

One access note: the entrance has four steps and no ramp yet. If an elderly parent is travelling with you, say so when booking and someone will meet them there. Map on the contact page.

SHOT, the four entrance steps and doorway photographed straight on from pavement level, with a staff member standing at the top of the steps and one hand extended in offer of help. Purpose: a patient bringing an elderly parent from out of town can see exactly what the access looks like before deciding how to plan the visit (portrait)

The honest answers

Sometimes the answer is simple

Some consultations end with a written note for your own dentist, when the treatment sits comfortably within their scope and you would rather not travel again. You get a clear answer either way, and you are always welcome to have the work done here instead.

Imaging happens off site

3D scanning is done at an imaging centre in Karnal a short distance away, and we plan from those images the same day where possible. We will tell you in advance if your case needs one, so the whole trip fits into a single visit.

No single tied-up hospital

Procedures needing an operating theatre are arranged at a hospital in Karnal picked to suit the case, sometimes where a patient is already admitted. You are told where and why.

What patients from Kurukshetra ask

I live in Kurukshetra. Is a specialist opinion in Karnal worth the journey?
It is worth it when the question is one only a maxillofacial surgeon can settle: a jaw joint that locks, an injury to the face, a swelling in the bone, or a case your dentist has said should go to a bigger centre. Karnal is around 40 km down NH-44, nearer than Delhi or Chandigarh for the same opinion. For anything a general dentist can finish in one sitting, it is not.
How many trips to Karnal will I actually have to make?
Assessment and planning are usually one trip; treatment is another. You are told the expected number at the end of the first visit rather than letting it grow visit by visit. Reviews that only check healing can often be handled by photographs.
My dentist in Kurukshetra referred me onward. Should I come for a second opinion first?
That is one of the better reasons to make the trip. Bring the referral note and any films, and you get an independent view of whether the referral is right and whether the treatment can be completed in Karnal. Sometimes the answer is that your dentist was right to send you further afield.
Can I get the 3D scan done during the same trip?
Usually yes, but not inside this clinic. There is no CBCT machine here. If your case needs one, you are directed to an imaging centre nearby and bring the images back the same day, so planning finishes while you are still in Karnal.
Is there a Kurukshetra branch or a visiting clinic day?
Neither. Dr. Nainik Mehta and Dr. Kusha Dhawan Mehta practise only at the Karnal clinic on Kunjpura Road, as equal partners, and there is no second address anywhere.

Sunday by appointment, so ask if weekdays are hard to get away for.

Send the case first, then decide about the drive

Describe what is happening, or forward the referral and films you were given. You will get a straight answer on whether a maxillofacial surgeon is needed at all, and how to fit the assessment into one day.

We reply within 15 minutes during clinic hours.
